We wish to extend our sincerest apologies for one of the vendors that appeared on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at our festival. When he signed on it was stated that he was a travel agent from “Vacation Getaways” and that he would be giving away one grand prize to Scotland to people who signed up to discuss his travel packages. I stopped him on the first morning to confirm what it was that he was doing. Through the course of the day I was approached by various people to say that they thought he was running an alleged ‘scam’ and that there was no trip to Scotland, he was really signing people up to sit through a sales pitch for a time-share in Florida. Then we found out that he was collecting our raffle tickets.  We spoke to him on three different occasions to get him to stop. Finally, when we were told by the people who run the Ithaca Games that he worked for the same company that misrepresented themselves at their event we decided we would ask him to leave. He folded up his tent and left on Saturday before we could catch him but when he returned on Sunday his money was refunded and he was asked to leave. He is not now and never was on our committee and does not represent the Cortland County Celtic Festival in any way. Again, we are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

2014 Festival Dates: August 23rd & 24th. See You Then!

Attention: All Celtic Festival Friends:

As you all know, putting on a festival such as ours takes a lot of behind the scenes activity and advance planning. The new venue last year – Dwyer Park – provided a wonderful backdrop to all of our hard work and it was a great success. A number of people approached us to say they would love to be a part of it all.

Folks who are interested might consider:

  • Decorating the park pavilions
  • Coordinating Entertainment
  • Soliciting Venders
  • Setting up the Athletic Field – pre and post
  • Hanging up posters
  • Working at the Entrance

Our monthly meetings are held at 6:00pm on the last Monday of each month at Clark CPA, PC in Homer on Rt. 281. Please spread the word to anyone you think may be interested. Hope you can join us!!
